Driven by the vision that everyone deserves a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 as a grassroots initiative on a community farm in southern Georgia. Since then, it has grown into a global nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing housing needs. With a presence in all 50 U.S. states and more than 70 countries worldwide, Habitat for Humanity works alongside families and individuals in need of better housing.

Our mission is built on partnership: families in need collaborate with Habitat for Humanity to build or renovate homes they can proudly call their own. Homeowners contribute sweat equity by working on their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage, creating a sustainable solution for housing.
